My first review comes all the way from Krakow, Poland! When we sent a copy of 'Mirusia' to my great-aunt, she lent it to one of her English-speaking friends. Apparently, her friend read the book in two days and before I knew it, the following review came my way!
Mirusia
The book titled Mirusia, written by Monika Barbara Potocki , is a very interesting novel. The story of a young girl, the heroine of the novel, fascinates readers not only through the ongoing action, but also by revealing various aspects of the lives of young people. Among them we find very positive, valuable characters which awaken our sympathy, but also people of little values and selfishness, just like in ordinary life.
Penetrating deeper into the content of this novel we also find valuable educational, psychological, social and religious themes.
We admire the skillful approaches which loving but demanding parents utilize in regards to their daughter.
With interest we observe the process of bringing young people out from their life crises.
We sympathize with the priest, a true pastor and spiritual director portrayed on several pages of this novel.
The author also shows how beautiful and valuable forgiveness is in relationships.
I am sure - this novel is worth reading by not only young people, but also by mature ones such as parents, teachers, and educators.
